Anissina von Khrennikov has always been interested in science, long before the day that she took apart Gwendal's favourite toy in an attempt to make it better (Honestly, who wouldn't want a toy kitten whose eyes don't glow in the dark), she had been taking things apart at home and putting them back together. She was told long ago that a woman's place is in the home, providing for her husband and making sure that his needs were looked after. She tried that for a bit, but after her makes-bread-warm-and-hard-kun exploded for the third time in as many days, taking half the kitched with it, she decided that a woman's place was not in the kitchen or even in the home. That fact was backed up by her mother who pushed her out of the house in an attempt to keep the walls intact.
She was out walking one day when she was called back to the house (The summon-children-even-though-they-are-far-away-kun worked well) by her mother. A neighbour had dropped around to introduce themselves and brought their darling little boy with them. He had the most sullen features and the darkest hair with the most fantastic eyes. She fell in and out of love in an instant and settled for teasing him mercilessly... "Don't be silly, Gwendal..." She'd say, challenging his ideas with her own and falling into what was, for her, her closest friendship. Of course, with that came friendship with Cheri, Gwendal's mother. She was invited to the Castle and wound up never actually leaving.
There was so much to be done. She was bursting with ideas on how to make the castle a better place. What to add, how to do things easier... and of course, liberation from the kitchen for the women. She thought that she had found her niche in life and was happy in the castle, close to her friends. Then the war came and she, like everyone else, had their part to play. She wasn't particularly proud of her role but when it came to the destructive properties of her inventions.
However, that has not stopped her in her never ending quest for new inventions like the "keep-gwendal-tied-up-in-paperwork-for-hours-so-he-won't-walk-in-on-his-brother's-date-kun" and the "gwendal-needs-to-be-thought-a-lesson-kun". Of course, there are many useful inventions but nothing gives her time to enjoy a nice cup of tea like announcing loudly that she has a new invention that needs to be tested...
